So Long, Farewell

After being absent in terms of our blog for rather a while, we've come to the conclusion that for the mean time we're actually going to stop posting on our blog and focus our time more on our other social media platforms.

However, don't be alarmed, our fantastic posts from the past six months or so will still be here for you to read if you wish -- we just won't be posting any new content from now on.

This doesn't mean that we're disappearing from social media, don't you worry; we're taking this time to develop our Twitter and Facebook pages even more. If you haven't liked our Facebook page or followed us on Twitter yet, then please do by clicking the links below. By following us you can keep up-to-date of what we're doing, auction dates, find out what's coming up in our auctions, plus more!

Prices Realised: Diamond Rings

Yes, we know, we've been away from our blog for rather a while, but we've been so busy post-auction that we've ended up being rather quiet and neglectful on the social media front (the blog especially).

But to make up for that, today we've got some of the prettiest diamond rings from our
November auction and their prices realised...

Lot 9 is a beautiful diamond solitaire ring with a 1.65 carat stone, set in white gold.
This sold for £1900, much less than if you were to buy the equivalent from a high street jeweller.

Lot 37 is a pretty diamond cluster ring, the total diamond weigh being 1 carat,
which sold for just £380!

Lot 70 is an art deco diamond solitaire ring. The three diamonds' total weight is 2.05 carats,
and it sold for £3850!

Lot 140 is this gorgeous 5 stone old-cut diamond ring, approx weight 0.70 carats.
The price that this ring achieved at auction was £300.

As you can see, buying rings from an auction can save you so much money -

These four rings are just a small selection of some that sold at our November auction (definitely my personal favourites though!).
You can view the rest of the diamond jewellery along with everything else sold at our November auction by clicking HERE.

This is estimated at £400 - £600.

Lot 363 is a Charles I Civil War shilling from 1644, produced by the Bristol Mint.
This was produced whilst King Charles I was running away from Oliver Cromwell's parliamentary troops in the English Civil War - this coin was made just five years before
the monarchy was overruled by parliament and the King was beheaded -
a little history lesson for you all there!

As this is a scarce coin, our estimate for it is £1000 - £1400.

that are coming up in our 20 November Auction.

For a full description click on the lot number for each item,
this will open the online catalogue.

Lot 571 is an Afghanistan Medal from 1878-80.
This was awarded to 704, Pte. S. Bicknell, 2/11th Regt.
As the recipient never wore the medal, it is in mint condition, almost as struck.
Our auction estimate is £180 - £220.

Lot 572 is an India Medal from 1895, with "Punjab Frontier 1897-98" clasp.
It was awarded to 4161, Pte. H. Stadames, 2nd Battn, Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders.
This has an estimate of £160 - £200.

Lot 583 is an Irish Republic 50th Anniversary of the Easter Rising Veteran's or Survivor's
medal in gilt silver, hallmarked JM Co., Dublin, 1966.
These were issued to all soldiers who survived.

The family believe that the recipient was James Goodall from Wexford who apparently
held up trains  in order that the British could not get to Dublin!
They believe he may also have been a footballer of note in his prime.

The medal is in excellent condition, it has the original riband fitted with h/m bar brooch
and comes with green box of issue.
We are estimating this star lot at £1800 - £2200.
