Historic Silver Coins in our November Sale

Today, we bring you a selection of historic silver coins that are coming up in our 
November sale on the 20th November.

Lot 326 is an Ancient Greece, Attica, Athens, silver tetradrachm from 449-413 BC.
Our estimate for this is £220 - £280.



Lot 331 is an Ancient Greece, Alexander III (the Great) (336-323 BC) silver tetradrachm.
We are estimating this at £160 - £200.



Lot 352 is an Ancient Greece, Seleukid Kingdom, Seleukos I, 
Nikator (312 - 280 BC) silver tetradrachm.
Our estimate for this is £240 - £280.



Lot 357 is a rare Henry IV (1399-1413) silver penny by the York Mint.
Our estimate on this is £300 - £400.



Lot 361 is an Elizabeth I half crown from 1601, just two years before the end of her reign.
This is estimated at £400 - £600.



Lot 363 is a Charles I Civil War shilling from 1644, produced by the Bristol Mint. 
This was produced whilst King Charles I was running away from Oliver Cromwell's parliamentary troops in the English Civil War - this coin was made just five years before 
the monarchy was overruled by parliament and the King was beheaded - 
a little history lesson for you all there! 

As this is a scarce coin, our estimate for it is £1000 - £1400.

More Military Medals and Remembrance Sunday

Today we bring you a second selection of Medals
that are coming up in our 20 November Auction.

Lot 571 is an Afghanistan Medal from 1878-80. 
This was awarded to 704, Pte. S. Bicknell, 2/11th Regt. 
As the recipient never wore the medal, it is in mint condition, almost as struck.
Our auction estimate is £180 - £220.


Lot 572 is an India Medal from 1895, with "Punjab Frontier 1897-98" clasp. 
It was awarded to 4161, Pte. H. Stadames, 2nd Battn, Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders.
This has an estimate of £160 - £200.



Lot 583 is an Irish Republic 50th Anniversary of the Easter Rising Veteran's or Survivor's 
medal in gilt silver, hallmarked JM Co., Dublin, 1966.
These were issued to all soldiers who survived.  

The family believe that the recipient was James Goodall from Wexford who apparently 
held up trains  in order that the British could not get to Dublin!  
They believe he may also have been a footballer of note in his prime.

The medal is in excellent condition, it has the original riband fitted with h/m bar brooch
 and comes with green box of issue. 
We are estimating this star lot at £1800 - £2200.

As its Remembrance Sunday tomorrow, we have
included a couple of World War I Medal lots.

Lot 579 comprises World War One family medal trios, inc. 1914-15 Stars awarded to
4199, Pte. S. Piper, "A" Coy., 2nd Battn., King's Own Royal Lancashire Regt.,
killed in action on the 8th May 1915.
This lot is expected to achieve £160 to £200 at auction.



Lot 580 is a World War One medal trio, inc. 1914-15 Star, awarded to
19039, Pte. T. W. Double, (1st Battl.) Essex Regt.,
who died of wounds at sea, with Memorial Plaque.
Our estimate for this lot is £160 to £200.

Collectable Vintage Advertising Signs | 19 Nov. Auction

Back in the 1940's smoking was good for you, 
even the doctor would recommend it, 
and Jack Daniels would help calm the nerves! 


Its great fun looking back at old advertising memorabilia to see what life used to be like 
for earlier generations.  We have a small selection of vintage advertising signs
that would look really cool in any modern home and be great conversation starters. 

Lot 273  Doctors say smoking is good for you according to this vintage Marlboro sign!  
Or try a Tooheys to feel good!  
Try your luck bidding for these fabulous signs, the auction estimate is only £20 to £40.

Lot 271 Feeling stressed, try drinking Jack Daniels... it calms the nerves!
Our estimate of £30 to £50 should make you happy. 

Lot 274 includes these very cool signs for Harley Davidson and Mini Cooper.
This lot could help you tick two Xmas presents off your list!

This is one of my favourite lots 270, signs of Marilyn Monroe and Bob Dylan.

Silver Jewellery, Watches & Collectables / 19 November Auction

Here is a small selection of silver jewellery, watches and collectables 
coming up in our Auction on the 19 November.

Lot 144 is this antique silver matchbook holder, hallmarked Birmingham 1926. 
Our estimate on this is £30 - £50.

Lot 145 is a beautiful silver Tiffany bracelet with original velvet bag.
Conservatively estimated at only £25 - £45.

Lot 146 is this gorgeous ornate silver wristwatch, set with black onyx stones, estimate £35 - £55.

Lot 148 is a gent's antique silver pocket watch by "W.A. Spiegelhalter, Whitby', 
hallmarked Birmingham 1894. Our estimate is £50 - £70.



Lot 151 is an antique oval silver locket with ornate patterns to both sides, estimate £35 - £55.

Lot 156 is this antique silver purse, hallmarked Birmingham 1914.  Estimated at £40 - £60.

Lot 158 is a pair of antique silver vesta cases, hallmarked 1907 & 1909. 
Our estimate on these two items collectively is £45 - £65.

Lot 159 is this pair of silver and enamel Norwegian brooches, one stamped '925 Norway', 
the other (royal blue circle) stamped "OSV A/S Norway 925S". 
This lot is estimated at £45 - £65.



Lot 169 is this antique silver vesta case, with an acanthus pattern to either side, 
hallmarked Birmingham 1903.  Our estimate is £20 - £40.

Lot 173 is an antique silver sovereign case, hallmarked Birmingham 1909. 
This has an estimate of £45 - £65.

Lot 174 is this pretty ladies' silver charm bracelet, complete with ten various charms, estimate £50 - £70.

Lot 180 is this gorgeous ornate amber set bangle.  This is estimated at £45 - £65.



Lot 181 is an ornate amber set pendant and earrings set. This would go perfectly with lot 180 above! 
Our estimate for this lot is £40 - £60.

Lot 182 is a silver malachite set bangle, stamped "925 Mexico", estimated at £35 - £55.

Lot 186 is a Victorian silver crown brooch, 1887 jubilee head, estimate £30 - £50.

Lot 196 is this antique silver card case by "M. Emanuel", hallmarked Birmingham 1903. 
We estimate this at £70 - £100.

Collectable Gold Coins in our Upcoming Auction

Today we have a selection of our collectable gold coins that are coming up in our November sale on the 20th November.

Lot 283 is an Ancient Greece, Kyzikos, Mysia, electrum hekte. 
This coin dates back to around 500-450 BC, making it among the earliest Ancient Greek coins.
Our estimate on this scarce coin is £400 to £600.


Lot 284 is an Ancient Greece, Kyzikos, Mysia, electrum slater. This dates back to 460-400 BC.
Alike lot 283, this is also one of the earliest Ancient Greek coins, also being very rare.
Our estimate on this is £6000 to £10,000.

Lot 287 is a Byzantine, Theodosius III (who ruled from summer 715 to 24th July 717) gold tremissis.
This coin is very rare, and is estimated at £800 to £1200.




Lot 289 is a Henry VI first reign (1422 - 1461) gold noble annulet issue, in extremely fine condition.
We are estimating this to get £1200 to £1600 at auction.

Lot 325 is a USA gold $20 from 1892, marked S (San Francisco).
This is estimated to sell for £760 to £840.
